Instructions ~ Samples

Every slab reacts differently with the stain. The concrete is colored from a chemical reaction. Things such as the concrete finish, concrete mix, temperature, humidity, etc., effect the color. Generally the stains reaction is in a range of expected color, however if you would like a better idea of the color your slab will take, then we can run samples under cabinets or in a  room that gets carpet. Samples will give you a better idea of the expected color, however, the magnitude of the actual job effects drying time so duplication of samples is unlikely. Samples should be checked out the morning after completed because they will dry down and change overnight.

If you wish to run samples because you are looking for a narrow band of shades, you may pick out a set of six colors or combinations of colors to sample. Each set cost $500.00. If you want one set of six, enter a "1" (the default) into this field. If you want more, keep in mind that each set of six samples cost $500.00. If you pick a color from our showroom or a color sample sheet then enter a zero or take out the number that is in the field and it will not add it to the total.

Instructions ~ Scoring

Enter the square footage of the area you wish to calculate anestimated price on.

Click on either 1/4"or 1/8" to indicate the width of the scored line (not the depth of the score), or click on none if you do not plan to have any scoring done in the area. The 1/4", our most popular, gives  a much more pronounced grout line look like tile, whereas the 1/8" is more subtle, fading out as you look across the floor.

Instructions ~ Stain

Choose the number of layered colors your floor will have. Many jobs are one color. Some of our custom colors have two or three layered colors. If you are not sure, use one color and keep in mind that an additional $0.50/sf will be added for each additional layered color.

NOTE: This is not referring to custom cut in work involving color separations. It is referring to multiple layers of color to achieve a more weathered, developed patina. Custom color separations are bid individually.

Instructions - Pre-finish:

Select one of the three choices

Interior Seal/Wax

This is a protection option, primarily for contractors. See our Protection Option page for more details. It is also recommended for areas like kitchens to help protect the floor from liquids penetrating into the concrete. This is one coat of seal and one coat of wax. It is intended for floors which will get a wax final finish.

Exterior Seal

This is used primarily on exterior surfaces which are exposed to the weather for maximum protection and low maintenance. We put down two coats at this stage, and one more coat at the final finish.

Interior Wax

Used for general interior floors to protect the newly stained floor from general spills and wear during the remaining construction process. At the final finish, we apply another wax coat before move in.

Instructions ~ Final Finish

Interior Scrub

This is a protection option, primarily for contractors. See our Protection Option page for more details. It goes with the "Interior Seal/Wax" option in the pre-finish section. Before the final finish is applied, we scrub the floor to remove construction residue and dirt to prepare the floor for the final finish.

Exterior Seal

This goes with the exterior seal in the pre-finish section, and would be applied to exterior surfaces such as covered patios, pool decks, driveways and flatwork.

Interior Wax

This goes with either the Interior Seal/Wax option, or the Interior Wax option. It gives depth to the color and a sheen on the floor.
